SAT score release dates 2026–27: full schedule

SAT scores usually come out about two weeks after test day. For a Saturday test, that's typically the Friday of the second week after. June is the exception and takes a few days longer.

Here's every release date for the 2026–27 school year, how to find your scores when they land, and the timing question most students don't think about until it's too late: whether you'll know your score before you have to register for the next test.

College Board says weekend scores are released two to four weeks after test day, and in practice it's almost always the two-week end. If you haven't picked a test date yet, our SAT test dates guide has every date with its registration deadlines.

SAT score release dates by month

Open any month to see when its scores come out and whether you'll have them before the next registration deadline.

When do August SAT scores come out?

August SAT scores come out Friday, September 4, 2026, 13 days after the August 22 test. That's after the September SAT's late registration deadline (September 1), so if you want a quick retake, the October 3 test is the first one you can register for with your scores in hand. Its deadline is September 18. Your school gets your scores Tuesday, September 8.

When do September SAT scores come out?

September SAT scores come out Friday, September 25, 2026, 13 days after the September 12 test. That's after the October SAT's late deadline (September 22). The November 7 test is the first you can register for with your scores in hand, and its deadline is October 23. Your school gets your scores Monday, September 28.

When do October SAT scores come out?

October SAT scores come out Friday, October 16, 2026, 13 days after the October 3 test. That leaves 7 days before the November SAT's registration deadline (October 23), or 11 days with the late fee. Your school gets your scores Monday, October 19.

When do November SAT scores come out?

November SAT scores come out Friday, November 20, 2026, 13 days after the November 7 test. That's the same day as the December SAT's registration deadline, so if you want a December retake, you'll likely be using late registration, which closes November 24. Your school gets your scores Monday, November 23.

When do December SAT scores come out?

December SAT scores come out Friday, December 18, 2026, 13 days after the December 5 test. The next SAT is March 6, 2027, so you have about two months to decide on a retake. Registration closes February 19. Your school gets your scores Monday, December 21.

When do March SAT scores come out?

March SAT scores come out Friday, March 19, 2027, 13 days after the March 6 test. That leaves about four weeks before the May SAT's registration deadline (April 16). Your school gets your scores Monday, March 22.

When do May SAT scores come out?

May SAT scores come out Friday, May 14, 2027, 13 days after the May 1 test. That leaves 7 days before the June SAT's registration deadline (May 21), or 11 days with the late fee. Your school gets your scores Monday, May 17.

When do June SAT scores come out?

June SAT scores come out Monday, June 21, 2027, 16 days after the June 5 test. June scores take a few days longer than other months. The next SAT after June is in late August 2027. Your school gets your scores the same day.

    Why June scores take longer

The June test is the biggest of the year, and its scores come out 16 days later instead of the usual 13. If you're counting on June scores for a summer program or scholarship deadline, build in the extra time.

How to check your SAT scores

Your scores show up in your College Board account at studentscores.collegeboard.org. Sign in with the same account you used to register, and you'll see your total score, your section scores, and a full score report you can download as a PDF.

If you sign in and don't see anything, the most common reason is a second account. You, a parent, or a counselor may have created one for you at some point. Sign out and try the other one. College Board also has a Find Your Scores tool for tracking down which account your scores are attached to.

    SAT School Day scores

If you took the SAT at school on a weekday, your release date depends on when your school submitted the tests, not the day you tested. For fall 2026, those scores come out October 22, November 5, or November 12. The same schedule applies to the PSAT, which we cover in detail in our guide to PSAT score release dates.

Will you see your scores before the next deadline?

This is the question that trips people up. If you're planning to retake, you usually want to see your first score before deciding. But the next test's registration deadline doesn't wait for your scores.

If you test onScores arriveNext testWhat that means
August 22September 4September 12Scores come 3 days after the late deadline. You'd have to register blind.
September 12September 25October 3Scores come 3 days after the late deadline. Same problem.
October 3October 16November 77 days before the regular deadline, 11 before the late one.
November 7November 20December 5Scores land on the regular deadline. You have 4 days of late registration.
December 5December 18March 6Two months of breathing room.
March 6March 19May 1Four weeks before the regular deadline.
May 1May 14June 57 days before the regular deadline, 11 before the late one.

If your plan has back-to-back dates, one option is to register for both tests up front and cancel the second if your first score is where you want it. Canceling by the changes deadline costs $34, and canceling after it costs $44, up until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET before test day. After that, you can't cancel for a refund. That's cheaper than missing the test you needed.

    When colleges get your scores

Every time you register, you can send scores to four colleges for free. You can pick or change those four until nine days after the test.

Our advice: wait until you've seen your scores. The free sends have to be used within nine days of the test, but scores don't come out until about day 13. So anything you send for free goes out before you know how you did. Paying $15 per college to send a score you're happy with is usually worth it, and with Score Choice you decide which test dates each college sees. If you have a fee waiver, score reports are unlimited and free, so there's nothing to lose by waiting.

The exception is a tight deadline. If you're a senior testing in October for a November 1 deadline, using the free sends gets your scores to colleges sooner, and that can matter more than seeing them first. Also check each college's testing policy: a few require you to send every score, and many let you self-report and only ask for an official report if you enroll.

Score reports you order later cost $15 each and are typically sent within 5 to 10 business days. Rush delivery costs $31 and sends scores within 1 to 4 business days. Either way, colleges may take a little longer to process scores once they arrive.

What to do once your scores are in

First, put your score in context. Compare it to the middle 50% range at the schools on your list, which is what our guide to what makes a good SAT score walks through. Then decide whether a retake is worth it. Our guide to deciding whether to retake the SAT covers how to think about that, and the superscoring guide explains why a second attempt often helps more than you'd expect.

    Frequently Asked Questions

When do SAT scores come out?

Usually about two weeks after test day. For the 2026–27 school year, scores from the November 7 test come out November 20, December 5 scores come out December 18, and March 6 scores come out March 19. June takes a few days longer.

What time do SAT scores come out?

College Board doesn't announce a release time. Scores have usually started appearing early in the morning Eastern Time and continued rolling out through the day, so if yours aren't up first thing, check back later.

How do I check my SAT scores?

Sign in to your College Board account at studentscores.collegeboard.org with the same account you used to register. You'll see your total and section scores and can download your full score report as a PDF.

Why are my SAT scores not showing up?

Scores roll out over the course of release day, so they may just not be posted yet. If they're still missing, check whether you have a second College Board account. You, a parent, or a counselor may have created one. College Board's Find Your Scores tool can help you find the right account.

When will colleges receive my SAT scores?

Reports you order after seeing your scores are typically sent within 5 to 10 business days, or 1 to 4 business days with rush delivery. If you used your four free sends, those are usually sent a couple of weeks after test day. Colleges may take a few more days to process scores once they arrive.

Should I send my SAT scores to colleges before I see them?

Usually not. The four free score sends have to be used before scores come out, so you'd be sending a score you haven't seen. Waiting and paying $15 per college lets you send only the scores you want colleges to see. The exception is a tight deadline, like an October test for a November 1 application.

How many free SAT score reports do I get?

Four per registration, but you have to use them within nine days of your test, before your scores come out. After that, each report costs $15. Students with a fee waiver get unlimited free score reports.

How long do SAT School Day scores take?

It depends on when your school submitted the tests. For fall 2026, School Day scores come out October 22, November 5, or November 12. Your counselor can tell you which group your school is in.

When do PSAT scores come out?

For fall 2026, PSAT/NMSQT scores come out October 22, November 5, or November 12, depending on when your school submitted the tests. See our PSAT score release dates guide for details.

Should I register for the next SAT before my scores come out?

Often, yes. For back-to-back dates like August and September, scores arrive after the next test's late deadline. Registering early and canceling if you don't need the retake costs $34 by the changes deadline or $44 after that, until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET before test day.

Can I cancel my SAT scores?

Yes. You can cancel your scores until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time one week after your test date. Sign in at mysat.collegeboard.org, find your test date under My Scores, and choose the option for canceling.

Can I see which questions I got wrong on the SAT?

Not question by question for weekend tests. Your score report breaks down your performance across the content domains in each section, which tells you which skills to focus on next.
