    Frequently asked questions

    How are questions chosen?

Each day alternates between Math and Reading and Writing and works through every skill the digital SAT tests before any skill repeats. Questions are easier early in the week and hardest on Fridays, the day before each SAT date is an easier confidence builder, and a few holidays get a themed question.

Is this as hard as the real SAT?

The questions are written by Sharp to match the style of the digital SAT. Each one is labeled easy, medium or hard, the same three levels College Board uses in its question bank, and Friday's question is always a hard one.

    When does the question change?

A new question goes up every day at midnight Eastern time, and everyone sees the same one that day.

How long should I spend on one question?

Aim for about the pace of the real test. The digital SAT gives you 64 minutes for 54 Reading and Writing questions, about 71 seconds each, and 70 minutes for 44 Math questions, about 95 seconds each. If you're well over that, the explanations usually show a faster route.

Can I use a calculator on the Math questions?

Yes. On the digital SAT you can use the built-in Desmos graphing calculator, or your own approved calculator, for the whole Math section. Practicing with Desmos open is a good habit, and many questions are quicker to graph than to solve by hand.

    Do I need an account?

No. The question of the day is free and needs no signup. Your answer is saved in your browser, so it's still there if you reload the page.

    Can I see past questions?

Each question is up for its own day only, and there's no archive of past questions yet. For more practice right away, the SAT grammar workbook has 40 free questions with an answer key, and Sharp has thousands more.

How do I get the most out of one question a day?

Time yourself, then read the explanation for every choice, not just the right one. Knowing why each wrong answer is tempting is how you avoid the same trap on test day. Keep a short list of the skills you miss, since those are the ones worth extra practice.

Is one question a day enough to prepare for the SAT?

It's a good daily warm-up, but not a full study plan. Most students who raise their score practice regularly on their weakest skills and take full-length practice tests. Sharp builds that practice around the questions you miss.
