How we research college data
Test policies, superscoring and deadlines come from each college's own admissions pages for the current application cycle. We record the policy in the college's words, link the page it came from and note the date we checked it. Every college page shows that source.
Merit scholarships come from each college's own scholarship pages. We separate awards a college gives automatically, by GPA and test score, from awards that take a separate application or a competitive review, and we record amounts per year as the college publishes them.
Class profiles, admit rates and SAT ranges come from each college's Common Data Set, or from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard where a college publishes no Common Data Set. Figures we estimate ourselves, such as a merit aid estimate or a cost for a year not yet published, are labeled as estimates. When a college's published figures contradict each other, we leave them out.
Colleges change their policies and award amounts every year, so confirm anything you plan around on the college's own site.
