Is a 1350 SAT score good?

Yes. A 1350 is a good score on the SAT. It's at the 89th percentile of recent SAT takers and at the 94th percentile of all U.S. 11th and 12th graders, by College Board's percentiles. Whether it's good for you depends on your colleges: it's inside or above the middle 50% of enrolled freshmen at 844 of the 925 colleges we track with published SAT ranges.

    Key takeaways

    • A 1350 is below the 25th percentile at eight public universities: Michigan, Georgia Tech, Illinois, William & Mary, UNC, Wisconsin, Virginia and Maryland.
    • It's still worth sending at Wisconsin, Illinois, UNC and Maryland by our estimates; at Michigan, it's a close call.
    • 1360 is a step at Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Butler: ten more points add $3,000 to $9,000 a year.

Where does a 1350 fall short?

A 1350 is below the 25th percentile at eight public universities: Michigan and Georgia Tech (1370), Illinois and William & Mary (1390), UNC and Wisconsin (1400), and Virginia and Maryland (1410). The gap is 20 to 60 points.

A score within range is one part of the application. The University of Florida admitted 18,403 of 90,523 applicants for Fall 2025, about 20%, with a 1350 inside its range (1330-1490).

Should you send a 1350 to test-optional colleges?

At most of those eight, yes. A range describes only the students who sent scores, and at a test-optional university the freshmen who didn't usually scored lower. A 1350 is at or above our estimate of what they would typically have scored at Wisconsin (1310), Illinois (1300), UNC (1330) and Maryland (1350). At Wisconsin, 12% of Fall 2025 first-years sent an SAT, so its range covers about one student in eight.

At Michigan, where 55% sent one and we estimate 1360, it's a close call and your GPA decides. At Georgia Tech, which requires scores, you send it either way.

Which scholarships does a 1350 earn?

Several automatic grids step up at 1360, ten points above a 1350:

    • Alabama. For out-of-state students with a 3.50 GPA, the grid pays $15,000 a year for 1330 to 1350 and $24,000 for 1360 to 1410. Alabama uses the total from a single test date, so the 1360 has to come from one sitting.
    • Tennessee. The Out-of-State Volunteer Scholarship pays $3,000 a year from 1300 with a 3.8 GPA, and $9,000 for 1360 to 1480 with a 4.0.
    • Kentucky. The Bluegrass Scholarship rises from $13,000 to $16,000 a year at 1360, with a 3.5.
    • Butler. The Academic Scholarship pays $31,000 a year for 1330 to 1350 and $34,000 from 1360.

Not every grid breaks there: Oklahoma's non-resident tier covers 1330 to 1380, and the next starts at 1390. This page counts only awards with an SAT minimum. Many colleges also give merit aid on GPA alone; our merit aid calculator estimates awards from your GPA and score together.

We sort by score alone, with the same rules as our college pages, because this page doesn't ask for your GPA. SAT ranges are the middle 50% of enrolled freshmen who sent scores, mostly the Fall 2025 entering class, from each college's Common Data Set or the federal College Scorecard. Test policies are for fall 2027. "Send from" is our estimate of the typical SAT of freshmen who enrolled without one. Scholarships come from each college's published policy, linked.

What costs points at a 1350?

A 1350 sits between 1300, where you can miss about 16 to 20 questions, and 1400, where you can miss about 11 to 14. In this range, many students' scores are limited by which second module they reach, and that depends on Module 1 accuracy, often on medium-difficulty questions.

Treat Module 1 as the part of the test that matters most. Each module has its own timer, so finishing Module 1 early gains you nothing; spend leftover time rechecking the questions you marked. If a ten-point retake is on the table for a merit tier, check first whether the college superscores for scholarships. We've written more about what to practice between 1200 and 1400 and about how superscoring works.

Common questions about a 1350 SAT

    Is a 1350 a good SAT score?
What percentile is a 1350 on the SAT?
A 1350 is at the 89th percentile among students who took the SAT and graduated in the past three school years (College Board's user group percentiles): about 11% of them scored higher. Against all U.S. 11th and 12th graders, including those who don't take the SAT (College Board's nationally representative percentiles), it's at the 94th percentile.
What colleges can I get into with a 1350 SAT?
By score alone, a 1350 makes 210 colleges we track a target, including Wesleyan University, Yeshiva University and Soka University of America, and 635 colleges likely: it's above the middle 50% of their freshmen. Grades, courses and the rest of your file count too, and colleges admitting under 15% of applicants are a reach for everyone.
    Should I send a 1350 to test-optional colleges?
At 716 of the 762 test-optional colleges where we estimate the typical score of freshmen who enrolled without one, a 1350 is at or above it, so sending it helps. Elsewhere, applying without it is usually the better call, unless the score earns a scholarship. Each college's row in the table gives the call.
What ACT score is a 1350 SAT?
A 1350 SAT matches a 29 on the ACT, by the concordance tables ACT and College Board published together in 2018.
Should I retake the SAT with a 1350?
It depends on your list. Fifty more points, 1400, would move up a band at 103 colleges, become worth sending at 15 colleges and meet a richer scholarship's SAT minimum at 51 colleges. If none of those colleges is on your list, you may get more from spending that time on the rest of your application.
